We are making some important changes to Color's clinical genetic testing services. As of October 31, 2024, Color will be consolidating its genetic services into a single patient-initiated, patient-pay workflow and discontinuing many in-clinic services.

Patient-initiated workflow

Physicians interested in supporting their patients in accessing genetic information can direct their patients to color.com/orders/shipping to register and pre-pay. The $299 per-test price will include health history evaluation, test ordering, at-home, saliva-based sample collection, clinical-grade NGS sequencing and interpretation, and post-test genetic counseling. Patients will have the opportunity to share their results back to your clinic when the test is complete.

Discontinued services

The following processes will no longer be supported: insurance billing, paper/fax requisitions, test ordering and result return through the Color Clinical Provider Platform Portal, and in-office kit stocking and sample collection.

Why is Color making these changes?

From the beginning, Color has been focused on making critical health information available to people who need it, with as little friction as possible. Supporting in-clinic workflows add substantial costs to the service, and continuing to support those services would require a substantial price increase. We remain dedicated to serving the greatest number of patients through our population health programs such as the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program, our Cancer Services partnership with the American Cancer Society, and through the patient- initiated workflows described here.

Important dates

After October 31, 2024, orders placed in the Color Clinical Provider Portal will not be accepted. Samples received at the lab with paper orders will be destroyed or returned. Clinical account holders may download past results from the Color Clinical Provider Portal through the end of the year.

We greatly appreciate that your clinic shares these values and works tirelessly to ensure that your patients have easy access to exceptional care. We thank you for your long-standing partnership, and hope that these changes will not introduce an undue burden on you, your staff, and your patients.
