What is DNA?

Our genes are made up of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). If each gene is an instruction manual for how our body functions, then DNA is the letters that spell out the manual. There are four types of letters, or base pairs, that make up DNA: A, C, G and T. In each human cell, there are about 3 billion letters total.
