What will be discussed in the consultation?
Your clinician will review your lab results during the consultation.
If you did a cholesterol or diabetes screening and any of your results are abnormal, your clinician will discuss ways in which you can alter your diet and exercise habits to lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. You will also be given guidance on when to follow -up with another lab test and if any specialist consultations are needed.
If you did an STI screening and any of your results are abnormal, your clinician will work with you to come up with a plan for follow-up and treatment in a local clinic. They will also discuss ways in which to prevent STI’s.
You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about any of your results and what they mean for your health.
Will I receive treatment during the consultation if my lab results are abnormal?
If a cholesterol or diabetes medication is needed, your clinician will discuss options with you for in-person treatment.
If you have any abnormal STI tests, you will be directed to in-person treatment. The exception is for chlamydia treatment, which may be prescribed during the consultation.
